        Issue 212 on sale

        PCF 212, April 2008

It's almost time for the annual PC Format egg hunt, and Dexter's been busy in his skimpy easter bunny outfit hiding his chocolate eggs around Bath. There are also many yummy metaphorical easter eggs in this month's PC Format, but you won't have to hunt for them because we've included a handy contents page.

First up is our in-depth look at Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Mike's been busy writing his epic 8-page review, which covers every nook and cranny of the gargantuan game. It's not often something so special comes along, and it looks set to be one of the first great games of 2008.

Having the latest PC is all well and good, but there's always room for a little more improvement - or a lot more improvement, as Adam Oxford shows in his overclocking guide. Adam's also been looking in to the future of broadband, and presents a guide to the best ISPs at the moment.

Both Nvidia and ATi have fairly hefty graphics cards out at the moment - but which are worth getting? We put six head-to-head in our supertest and let you know. Portable hard disk drives are lassoed and put through their paces in the round-up, and we review all the latest kit that's worth reviewing.

Not only did Mike play Assassin's Creed, but he also got to wear some immensely stupid headgear in the name of games journalism. First up is a mod that turns your Wii into a head tracker, making things look nice and 3D. His other ridiculous cranial accessory this month is a mind-control, um, colander for Alec Meer's ace feature on neural game control.

On the subject of silly hats, we all donned our best trucker caps for our trucking game marathon. Game features include Dave's preview of the ace-looking and potentially world-changing Spore, a guide to the best Portal mods and maps, and reviews of Sins of a Solar Empire, Pirates of the Burning Sea and Penumbra: Black Plague. Richard Cobbett also takes a step back in time to examine the text adventure genre - not the most visual of features, but interesting nonetheless.

All this, and loads more await you in the latest Format. It's better than an easter egg - there's less packaging, it's not hollow, and it doesn't leave you feeling like you've paid over the odds for what is essentially a misshapen chocolate bar. PC Format: an eggs-elent eggs-travaganza.
